After the unpleasant accepting with her new "family" Azrael was a bit down. She was happy that she'd been accepted, but also unhappy of how unfriendly the pride members her. But she decided that she needn't let it bother her, as she figured if they didn't care then why should she. Perhaps she should do as they had and she should be just as unfriendly. Although deep down she knew that it was far to against her nature to be unfriendly, even though it was a good thought. For now she simply slinked down into the tall Savannah grass, eyeing her prey.
There was a herd of antelope not to far away, and she could see a lone male following behind. He looked as if he had an injured leg, which would explain why he was dragging so far behind. He was pretty good sized though which would indeed make for a good meal. She slunk back down into the grass, her eyes narrowing at the male as she slowly moved closer. She was pretty fast, but she knew so were antelope. As she moved closer her medium sized paws crushed a few twigs below her, that if she had been closer might've spooked the herd.
Her muscles tensed as she prepared to make her move. Her amber eyes twinkled, the light sparkles of green shone underneath the sun. They only appeared when she grew excited, which was usually when she was hunting. Moving ever so quitely she waited until she was about twenty feet or so. At that moment, she sprung into action. All muscles contracting and relaxing to prove long and speedy strides, her strong legs moving as fast as they could; which was quite blinding speed actually as speed was one of her best talents.
The males head perked up right as he seen Azrael, his feet a bit slower as he took off running towards his herd. When she was only but a few feet behind him she prepared to pounce, until he dove out of the way. He ran right into the middle of the herd, seeking protection. The whole herd running and trampling all of them. Azrael caught a few hooves in the side, her paws and tail stepped on several times. She ignored the pain and locked eyes with the male, seeing the fear in his eyes. With this she made her move, pouncing over the herd and making the seven feet and crash landing into the injured male. As she landed on him she sunk her teeth into his neck, grabbing hold and fully clamping her jaw down. With one solid twist she heard a satisfying snap as the antelopes neck snapped under the pressure of her jaw. With this she stood over him and waited for the herd to pass by which took several moments. Next she began dragging him over to a medium sized tree, seeking refuge under the shade.
She smiled as she was fairly glad with her kill. Laying down in the shade she nudged the male over onto his back and began licking the hide, cleaning the meal. Then she dove in, tearing at his muscles in his stomach and chest. This was the best part of a kill to eat, as it had the sweetest taste. After she was about halfway done with the kill she licked her paws clean and then relaxed for a little bit. What she would do with the rest of the kill she did not know, but she would gladly share it with one of her pridemates..if they were here. For now she just left it and laid back, letting her tensed muscles relax as she watched over the tall Savannah grass. Her stomach felt a bit bloated, perhaps she hadn't been that hungry in the first place.
